lubricant

All lube is not created equal! Let me shout it from the rooftops! Ladies…the skin of our vaginal canals is so absorbent, so whatever goes in there is headed straight to our blood stream. When shopping for a lubricant, I really only have two big MUSTS- it needs to be water based and propylene glycol free. Ideally, it will also be odorless and glycerin-free too. Enter > > > Slippery StuffWhile there are other products that do meet these same requirements, the consistency of Slippery Stuff is amazing, the price point is great, my patients love it, I love it, and I will continue to sing its praises.

Many people ask about using cooking oil as lubricant, and while I’m as economical as they come and this sounds like a great option in theory, it’s not something I recommend. First of all, cooking oil can break down condoms, so if you are going to use it, condoms should not be part of the equation. Second, the quality of your cooking oil makes a big difference. Many refined and hydrogenated oils such as vegetable oil or canola oil go through extensive processing including heating, bleaching, and chemical treatments. ALL things that should not come in contact with our vaginas.

If you’ve got a go-to brand that you love, that’s awesome! Just make sure it meets the above recommendations. If it doesn’t, I’ve got intel on a great option B!
